When Ian Risely assumed his RI President role in July, he offered the theme Rotary:Making a Difference, and a goal to focus on the environment. He issued a challenge to all Rotary clubs worldwide - to plant a tree for each Rotarian in their club.

“It is my hope that the result of that effort will be far greater than the environmental benefit that those 1.2 million new trees will bring,” Riseley said. “I believe the greater result will be a Rotary that recognizes our responsibility not only to the people on our planet, but to the planet itself.”

This morning, February 17, 2018 our Folsom Lake Rotary Club came together to meet this challenge. Our club planted 27 trees at Cummings Family Park in Folsom and an additional 15 trees will be added to one of the dog parks at this location over the next few weeks.  Folsom Lake Rotary worked closely with The Sacramento Tree Foundation to acquire the trees, and the Folsom Park and Recreation Department in Folsom to find great locations to place the trees.  Special thanks to The Sacramento Tree Foundation, Folsom Parks and Recreation Department and all of the Folsom Lake Rotarians and families who volunteered.
